Liverpool are reportedly targeting 18-year-old French central defender Jean-Clair Todibo according to Tuttosport.

Todibo is yet to sign the professional contract Toulouse have offered him meaning the Reds will be able capture him on a pre-contract from the beginning of January.

The Italian outlet report that Liverpool face competition from Juventus and Olympique Lyonnais for the signature of the teenager. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also reported to be interested in the Frenchman.

The Toulouse youngster only made his first appearance for the French side back in August and has started ten games for Toulouse this season. Todibo’s performances this season have caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp.

Todibo could provide good cover for the Reds next season as a replacement for defender Joel Matip, who also joined on a free transfer in 2016.

The Cameroonian has recently emerged as a January transfer target for new Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri as well Turkish side Fenerbahce, where he would join up with former-Red Martin Skrtel.

Matip has only started one Premier League game for Liverpool and could be shipped out to make way for Todibo.
