Liverpool set to battle PSG in more than just the Champions League as they battle for key signing

Liverpool and Paris Saint Germain are said to be leading the way in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic according to a report from Calciomercato.

Jurgen Klopp has been a long term admirer of the 20-year-old American and had an £11million bid rejected for Pulisic back in 2016. It has been reported that Klopp has kept tabs on the youngster ever since.

Pulisic was brought into Dortmund’s youth set up by former manager and current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

PSG who host Liverpool at the Parc Des Princes in Wednesday’s Champions League fixture are also said to hold a firm interest in the USA international.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, another former Dortmund manager, gave Christian Pulisic his senior debut at BVB and is hoping to reunite with the American winger.

The Reds appear to have the upper hand over the Parisians in securing the signature of Pulisic who has recently stated it is his “dream” to play in the Premier League.

The German side are currently sat top of the Bundesliga so any deal in January seems unlikely.

However, Pulisic could be available in the summer for a cut-price fee with his contract at Signal Iduna Park due to expire in summer 2020.
