Liverpool have shown interest in Brazilian defender Eder Militao from Porto, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
It seems that the Reds are not the only team keen to bring in the 20-year-old, as European giants Real Madrid and Manchester United are also in the hunt for the youngster’s signature.
Militao, who joined Porto in the Summer for £4m, is currently on a five-year deal at the Estádio do Dragão. However, it is speculated that he has a £42.5m release clause in his contract, after it was doubled in December due to serious interest from Manchester United.
The defender has massively the eye in Portugal this season, with eight clean sheets in 13 league games to his name. In the two league games that he didn’t feature in this season, Porto conceded as many goals as they did in the 14 in which he played (five).
Since his arrival in Portugal, the Brazilian has been converted into a centre half by Porto manager Sérgio Conceição, much like current Liverpool man Joe Gomez.
With Liverpool having him, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip all on the ever-growing injury list, Klopp may be forced to look for a defender of Militao’s quality.
Militao is known for being very good on the ball for a defender while also having the necessary skills for a defender: pace, strength and good reading of the game.
According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid have already began scouting the youngster in recent weeks, which have impressed Los Blancos.
The chances of this signing happening in this transfer window are very low, with Porto being so reluctant to sell the promising youngster in January.
