Liverpool are sending scouts to watch Uruguayan under 20’s star Nicolas Acevedo according to the Daily Mirror.
Acevedo currently plays for Liverpool, but not the English side – the youngster plays for Liverpool Montevideo, a Uruguayan club named after the current Premier League leaders due to a number of cultural links.
According to the Mirror, Manchester United have also sent their scouts out to watch the 19-year-old – Acevedo is currently out in Chile competing in the South American U20 Championship. The youngster is a multi dimensional player and can play in defence as well as midfield.
He has featured three times in the youth competition with Uruguay, who are unbeaten so far
As well as United, Liverpool face competition from Arsenal, Chelsea and Norwich.
Liverpool may have to move quickly should they choose to act on their interest in Acevedo, however, as Italian side Udinese are also keen on him.
