In episode 16 of The Kopite podcast co-hosts Matt Ramirez and Mick Moran are joined by Freelance football writer and site editor of Twelve Football Andrew Beasley.
First on the agenda for the trio was to recap the huge 2-0 win and finally putting those Chelsea demons to rest. The guys then focused on the captain, Jordan Henderson’s growing influence on the team in the more advanced midfield role.
The talk then turned to the importance of Sadio Mané and about who would you choose to sacrifice between him and Mohamed Salah following the Sky Sports debate between Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.
Alisson Becker was then the topic of debate and how much he has improved this Liverpool team – along with Virgil van Dijk – and how, even with his mistakes, he’s still one of the best ‘keepers in the world.
Squad depth and unity going forward was next on the agenda, and how much it would mean to the club’s aspirations in the long term with all of their key players under 27 years of age, and spoke of why any of their key players would want to leave this exciting Liverpool project under the tutelage Jurgen Klopp.
The topic then moved to the second-leg of the crucial Champions League away tie to Porto and how, with some crucial players coming back into the fold for Porto, progression to the last four will not necessarily be a foregone conclusion for this Liverpool side.
Andrew then told us of his beginnings in his freelance journalism career and his involvement in some big names such as the Liverpool Echo, plus his desire to continue flourishing in this field.
