In episode 17 of The Kopite podcast co-hosts Matt Ramirez and Mick Moran are joined by Liverpool writer Si Steers.
First on the agenda for the trio was to re-cap the tricky tie against 2-0 away win against Cardiff. The guys talked about Gini Wijnaldum’s reignited influence on the game, with the Dutchman having been slightly jaded over the last couple of weeks – hopefully sparking him into goalscoring form at a crucial stage of the season.
The topic then turned to the penalty award against Mo Salah – a penalty upon when viewing the replay – was one that shouldn’t have even been up for debate. The guys discussed why Salah has this contagious stigma around him in regards to diving and why it is unwarranted.
Talk then moved to the Porto away leg on a night in which VAR played a huge role. The award of Mané’s goal at a crucial time stemmed what was a fantastic first-half display from the Portuguese outfit.
The lads then talked about the upcoming Huddersfield tie, the PFA team of the season selections and discussed in detail what picks we agreed with and what ones we didn’t!
The lads then took a tricky question from previous guest of the show, Ste Carson.
The podcast was then rounded up with Si telling us of his work and how he began life in journalism and writing for esteemed platforms like the LFC website, TomkinsTimes and The Anfield Wrap; all of which aided his following on Twitter and built up his profile to match that of his excellent writing skill-set.
