A Divock Origi tattoo, dedicated to the Belgian following his derby-day heroics earlier in the season, has turned into a fitting tribute to the Reds’ Champions League hero.
Having been introduced late in the second half, the 24-year-old went on to score the all-important winner, moments from the final whistle.
Responding to his late goal, the Twitter user – whose real identity is unknown – returned to Twitter, making it clear his intentions to keep his promise and deliver with the tattoo. It was later confirmed by an uploaded image of the tattoo.
Since that game, Origi has still featured as a bit part player, but his presence has definitely been felt, especially in the Champions League.
The Belgian has been subject to criticism is the past, but he delivered two of the most important goals in his career to date. He scored the first and last goals against Barcelona, which helped complete a miraculous comeback on another famous European night at Anfield.
He added to those goals on Saturday night, providing a tie-settling finish at a pivotal moment in a nervy Champions League final.
This man’s tattoo will provide a lasting tribute to a player who provided special moments on the path to sixth European triumph.
