In recent days it has been suggested that Jurgen Klopp may look to strengthen his options in goal with the addition of Burnley ‘keeper Tom Heaton.
It has been apparent that options in pre-season have been limited, due to first-choice stopper Alisson Becker competing in the Copa America with Brazil.
Adding further worry is the uncertainty surrounding the future of Simon Mignolet. There have been suggestions that Sheffield United, amongst other clubs, may be looking to prise the Belgian away from Anfield.
Reports have now been brought to light via the Daily Mail, indicating that the club are ready to act by pouncing on Heaton’s ongoing contract situation. He has just 12-months remaining on his current deal.
Heaton’s future at Turf Moor has been under question for some time, after reportedly failing to reach an agreement on an extended deal. Newly-promoted Aston Villa have also been heavily linked by various outlets and made an official enquiry for his services, which was rebuffed according to Sky Sports.
