When Liverpool walked down the Anfield tunnel for half-time, trailing an out-of-form Spurs side, one could have been forgiven for instead thinking the Reds were four goals up.
The Kop roared Jürgen Klopp’s side on, aware that the home team had absolutely dominated the first period. Spurs were winning, but had been battered.
Harry Kane’s very early goal cam from a fortunate rebound, after Son Heung-min’s deflected shot had struck the woodwork. Other than that, reserve ‘keeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, had kept the London club in the game.

In the second half though, Liverpool finally caught a break. A loose ball bounced into the path of Jordan Henderson, who dispatched a deserved equaliser.
The onslaught continued after that, even if Tottenham posed an increased threat on the counter. When Sadio Mané was kicked in the penalty area, Mo Salah was able to seal three points for the home team.
The gap is six again. Liverpool remain top of the table, and become only the third team ever to record 28 points from their opening ten games in a Premier League season.
Here are your ratings…
Alisson 7.5 — Crucial stop from Son late-on. Impressive distribution.
Trent 8 — Sensational display of cross-field passing. Final ball occasionally lacking though, if we were being picky.
Degsy 5.5 — Shaky and slow on the ball. Was at fault for letting Son in when the Korean international struck the bar.
Big Virg 7 — Occasionally showed signs of ‘Virgiling’, but was locked in a physical battle with Harry Kane.
Robbo 9 — Faultless. Stormed down the left, delivered some brilliant crosses and made a few crucial tackles to break up counter-attacks. I do not understand why more people are not discussing Robbo’s performance. Man of the Match.
Hendo 7.5 — Poor in the first-half but the second period saw a huge improvement from Liverpool’s captain, including a crucial equaliser.
Fabs 8.5 — Dominant — as he often is — in the centre of midfield. There are very few players in world football who are as effective in recovering possession.
Gini 6.5 — Had a difficult job, up against a tireless Moussa Sissoko. Did pretty well, though.
Mo 7 — Dangerous throughout, almost finding the perfect touch when released over the top by Fabinho. Buried his penalty.
Bobby 6.5 — Defensive work helped the Reds dominate, and a few flicks created opportunities, but was often the least involved of the side’s attacking trio.
Sadio 7.5 — The Senegalese is showcasing a level of consistency in attacking performance that is possibly bettered only by Lionel Messi in world football right now. Very impressive.
Milly 6.5 — Deservedly booked after a very professional foul.
JoGo 6.5 — On late for the injured Salah.
Divock N/A — Chose to cut inside when seemingly through on goal.
