Liverpool booked their place in the Club World Cup final after beating C.F Monterrey 2-1 in the semi-final. Goals from Naby Keïta and Roberto Firmino helped Jürgen Klopp’s side overcome the tough battle against the CONCACAF Champions League winners.

While it was the outfield players who put Liverpool into the final, Alisson Becker made sure his side stayed in the game. The Brazilian had a tough start to this season when he picked up an injury in the first league game this year. However, he has since picked up where left off — besides that moment of madness against Brighton.

The shot-stopper made some excellent saves to keep his side in the game. He saved a total of six out of seven shots on target with the one he missed being Los Rayados’ goal.

One of the No.1’s standout saves was in the 26th minute. Colombian Dorlan Pabón struck a powerful shot at the Liverpool goal but Alisson was able to get a strong hand to it and keep it out of the net.

Pabón tested the former Roma goalkeeper once again when his low and powerful cross was on track to find Rogelio Funes Mori. Liverpool’s No.1 was able to get a vital hand to the cross to prevent the Argentine from scoring into an empty net.

Los Rayados’ No.8 troubled the Reds all game and in the 50th minute his free-kick was brilliantly parried away by Alisson. Luckily the opposition’s danger man was substituted with 10 minutes left to play.

With the Reds playing a disjointed defence — Jordan Henderson at centre-back and James Milner at right-back — it proved easy for the Mexican side to break through and create chances. Fortunately, they had the world’s best keeper behind them.

Alisson has proved to be vital to Klopp’s team and has won his side multiple points throughout the last season and a half. This time the Brazilian won his side a place in the Club World Cup final on Saturday.
