RATINGS | Liverpool 3-2 West Ham United: Lethal Reds loathe to lose

As games go by, it seems anything can happen in the Premier League, provided Liverpool win. The Reds were 2-1 down to West Ham after 65 minutes, but did anyone, even at that point, see David Moyes’ side returning to London with three points?

Mohamed Salah forced the second, a low shot squirming through Łukasz Fabiański. And Sadio Mané completed the comeback, with Trent Alexander-Arnold notching his second assist of the night.

All this after goals from Issa Diop and Pablo Fornals gave the visitors a shock lead despite trailing to Georginio Wijnaldum’s headed opener.

As if we needed one, it provided yet another example of the resilience in this Liverpool team. It seemed inevitable that Jürgen Klopp’s magnificent team would claw themselves back into the game, and that’s exactly what they did.

Here are your ratings:

Starting XI

Ali 6.5 — Conceded two goals, but could do nothing about either, even though the Brazilian had a hand on Issa Diop’s opener.

Trent 7.5 — Assist on both the Wijnaldum and Mané goals, and a constant danger down the West Ham left, if never completely secure defensively. Man of the match.

JoGo 7.5 — Could (harshly) be faulted for both goals, but at times looked the best player on the pitch.

Big Virg 7 — Little in way of error, but maybe should have jumped in front for the West Ham second.

Robbo 7 — Continues on an upturn of form. Menacing delivery from the left.

Naby 6.5 — Couple of misplaced passes into the final third, but carried a threat breaking forward. Subbed for Oxlade-Chamberlain after seemingly ignoring requests from Klopp and Lijnders to push the play forward more.

Fabs 7 — Broke up play well.

Gini 7 — Great header to get on the end of the opener. Possibly less involved after that than he needed to be.

Mo 6.5 — Fortunate for goal. Other than that, little bit quiet.

Bobby 6 — Some key defensive work but less attacking contribution than he might have hoped.

Sadio 7 — Quiet first half but a constant threat in the second. Found space for the winner, and unlucky not to do so for a fourth.

Ox 7 — Positive energy.

Das Giraffe N/A — Hardly on the pitch.

Don Kopleone

Scouse, not Sicilian.
