RECAP | Liverpool u23 4-0 Arsenal u23: Stewart, Cain and Woodburn on scoresheet in deserved thrashing of Gunners

A dramatic 3-2 win away to Chelsea last weekend saw Liverpool u23s return to winning ways after falling to five defeats in their previous six outings.

That included an action-packed afternoon which saw Manchester United visit Kirkby and leave with the three points after a nine-goal thriller.

After winning away to Arsenal earlier in the season, manager Barry Lewtas hoped his side could pull off another victory to push themselves closer to the battle at the top of the Premier League 2 table and further away from those at the bottom.

And that’s exactly what happened, as the mini Reds romped to a 4-0 thrashing of an Arsenal side led by first-team regular Reiss Nelson. Jake Cain’s brace was sandwiched by strikes from Layton Stewart and captain Ben Woodburn, to cap off a sensational team performance.
