Young Liverpool attacker Harvey Blair has signed a contract extension with the club just six months after signing his first professional deal.
Blair had originally signed his first deal back in October 2020 but has been impressive for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s u18s this season.
After a strong pre-season, Blair was set for his first full season in the u18 side. However this plan was disrupted by an injury he picked up early on in the campaign.
But in just four games for the u18 side since returning, Blair has scored two goals – an average of a goal every other game.
The 17-year-old joined the Reds as at u12 level from rivals Manchester United, with the Reds clearly now very happy with their business.
Blair is a tricky winger who is capable of playing down the wing as well as through the middle in a No.10 role. The youngster has clearly impressed Bridge-Wilkinson in his limited minutes, showing great promise for the future.Embed from Getty Images
It’s clear that the Reds believe they have a real talent on their hands in Blair. We can only hope he continues to develop well in the academy before making the step up to the u23s and, maybe, one day he can join up with the senior side.
As for Blair, he will be looking to prove himself at the club and show his former employers exactly what they are missing out on.
