Another Anfield game for Liverpool – who were desperate to taste success on their home ground for the first time in almost three months.
This time it was Fulham who arrived in the north west with optimism that they could be the latest team to storm the fortress and come away with valuable points in their fight against relegation.
Scott Parker’s side held the Reds to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, one of 11 Premier League draws so far this term – no other side has shared the points on more occasions.
While a draw would certainly have been an improvement after an unprecedented five-straight defeats at home, Liverpool really needed a win here to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
But it wasn’t to be, as Mario Lemina’s strike on the stroke of half-time proved to be the only goal of the game. Liverpool continue to struggle to score goals, and look to be in freefall in the Premier League.
