Hooray! A night when we didn’t have to talk about the Reds’ wretched Premier League form!
They were back in action in the Champions League – a tournament in which they have enjoyed much better fortunes this season, in comparison to domestic competitions.
Liverpool eased through Group D, and were in the driving seat of their first knockout tie after a 2-0 first-leg victory over Leipzig.
The Reds still needed to be wary of Julian Nagelsmann’s team, which certainly had enough quality and pace to trouble the Merseysiders. Focus was required to secure a place in the last eight.
And that’s exactly what they did. Liverpool really were excellent and should have scored a whole heap of goals. They were wasteful with their chances, but dominated the game and eventually got their reward.
